We enjoyed a really beautiful day on the bike: sunny and cool. Two of our boys did 32 miles at our summer group pace of 17 mph (data below is from the slow coach's bike). We had so much fun that we didn't even feel the affects of the cold and forgot to take photos. Now, later in the day, it's obvious that the cool temps took a lot out of us. We'll sleep well tonight.

Fall Kickoff
It's time to start the fall season. Due to travel, our riders trained heavily on their own in July and August. We are ready to ramp things up again. For our experienced riders our big fall goals are the CT Cycling Festival and Seacoast Century in September and the Donut Derby in October.
Several of our riders are playing fall sports, so we are a smaller group, but the training will continue for both inexperienced and experienced riders. See Mr. Jannke in room 211 if you are interested or email kjannke@ledyard.net.

With all the storms, we changed plans and did some TT training on the Pequot's course. We scoped out the course from the van and then in between storms, we had 4 riders give it a go. It was a great learning experience. On the way home, it started to rain again, so we timed it perfectly.

Two More New Riders
We had two MORE new riders join us today, Austin and Christian. They rode 2 of our CCAP Raleigh bikes. They were impressed with the speed of a road bike. They'll be back out with us this weekend. Next step shoes and pedals!
June 24, 2015
Three New Riders Tomorrow
Tomorrow, Thursday, we welcome three new riders to our growing team. We'll do our standard intro ride down to River Road. It's going to be another pleasant evening. We meet at LHS at 6pm sharp. Several of our experienced riders will be joining us, so it will be a big, fun group ride. Below is the route.
Another Fast Ride
We enjoyed another 17+ mph ride over our standard 25 mile loop this eve. We were graced with the company of Mrs. Froh. The same four boys from last night rode hard again. It's fun seeing them ride in a pack, and fast. Tomorrow we welcome two new riders. Good times!
Week in Review
We enjoyed a fast ride on Monday and didn’t ride yesterday due to the rain. For the rest of the week…
All rides LEAVE at 6pm, so arrive appropriately before then.
Wednesday - Fast A-Team ride from Alex’s house
Thursday - Fun Intro/Group ride from LHS
Friday - Fun Group ride from LHS (everyone is welcome!)
We’ll discuss the weekend as we ride the next three days.
Over the course of the last week, our club enrollment has gone up by 5 riders! This is super exciting as I can organize larger rides for each rider-level and when we do full group rides we could have as many as 12 youth. That would be a pretty big show of force riding though Mystic or visiting the Mystic Cycle Center :)

Foggy Groton Long Point Today
We rode down to foggy Groton Long Point this morning and them made it back home on the rolling hills of the Stonington side as the sun came out. We had our 3 racers and our new rider, Joe, with us today. Joe was sporting a new red bike. He picked up a used Giant from Brumble Bikes last night. The frame is the correct size and it came with a computer, nice wheels, upgraded components and the proper 52 chain ring for junior gearing. With shoes on order Joe is ready to put out some more power. June is such an exciting time for our club as we gain more and more riders. We set up new rider Chris with pedals and shoes yesterday and we're installing a computer on his club bike today. He'll be joining us again for tomorrow's ride. Good times!

The boys weren't feeling it today. We only did 17 miles at 16 mph. At least we did a Pequot Trail hill and Gallup Hill. Looking forward to more distance and speed on Friday. Tomorrow will be a light day of training with our development riders.

I think we have a new climber aboard!
